TEAM DURANT Community Development Block Grant Award from Ok Dept. of Commerce The Oklahoma Department of Commerce presented TEAM Durant with an award for Outstanding Economic Development Efforts.
The award was given on December 7, 2007 at the first annual Community and Economic Development Conference held by Oklahoma Department of Commerce.
Millie Vance, Municipal Grant Consultant and the Southern Oklahoma Development Association (SODA), nominated the City of Durant for this special recognition in the area of economic development.
Durant was the recipient of six Community Development Block Grant –Economic Development Infrastructure Financing grant/loan awards within the last year. This sets a record for the most EDIF projects in a community in one year.
Eagle Suspensions Grand Opening The largest leaf spring manufacturer in the United States, Eagle Suspensions, is pleased to announce the Grand Opening Ceremony for their new leaf spring manufacturing plant in Durant, Oklahoma on Friday, November 30th at 11:00 am. The new company occupies the former Cornerstone Products manufacturing building located at 1811 West Arkansas Street. Durant Job Fair The Durant Industrial Authority in conjuction with Workforce Oklahoma and Southern Workforce Board will host the Bryan County Job Fair on June 21st at the Choctaw Casino Resort Hotel & Conference Center from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm. Durant awarded "Communities of Excellence"Governor Brad Henry has declared March 8 as “Communities of Excellence Day” in Oklahoma. The award-winning communities that will be showcased are Ardmore (Ardmore Beautification Council), Town of Braman, Durant (Durant Industrial Authority), City of Frederick, City of Okemah, City of Pauls Valley, and the City of Pawnee. Economic Development Director Wins Top A Tommy Kramer received the New Economic Developer of Year, by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), the world’s largest economic development professional organization.
