Recreational opportunities are abundant on beautiful Lake Texoma, offering an abundance of water sports. It is only 15 minutes from Durant and has 89,000 acres of water to enjoy. With the varied activities and numerous combinations, Lake Texoma can make anyone's vacation the ultimate experience.

The City of Durant hosts its annual event, the Magnolia Festival, on the weekend following Memorial Day. This year's Magnolia Festival is May 29 - June 1, 2014. The festival is a four night, four day event filed with fun and entertainment. For more information on this event visit the web site at www.magnoliafestival.com.   

Durant is also home to many other great attractions such as the Three Valley Museum, the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival, and historic downtown Durant.

The basis of a great education begins with the Durant Public School System. With three elementary schools, Durant Intermediate School, Durant Middle School and Durant High School, you can be sure that your children will receive the best education possible.

Durant has some of the best post-secondary educational opportunities available anywhere. Durant is home to a top-ranked vocational-technical school — Kiamichi Technology Center — and an outstanding four-year university in Southeastern Oklahoma State University. The picturesque campus of Southeastern is known as the "Campus Of A Thousand Magnolias."
